The city is surrounded by stunning countryside – an ideal stop on The Explorer Road for walking, cycling, visiting nearby Doddington Hall or just enjoying the outdoors.
One of Europe’s finest examples of Gothic Architecture, the Cathedral stands majestically at the top of Lincoln’s Steep Hill. Explore the Cathedral, seek out the famous Lincoln Imp, admire the stunning stained glass and St Hughes Choir. Tower, roof and floor tours available. Groups welcome, cafe and shop on site. Large part of the Cathedral is accessible for wheelchair users.
A fantastic visitor experience is Lincoln Castle including a vault and visitor centre housing 1215 Magna Carta & 1217 Charter of the Forest; a complete circular walk of the castle walls offering stunning views across rural Lincolnshire; Heritage Skills Centre offering hands on courses; and Victorian and Georgian prisons. The ‘Wave’ poppies sculpture (from the Tower of London) will be on display at the castle in 2016. Group rates available, guided tours and an events programme.
